What do you want most in a friend─someone who is intelligent, or someone who has a sense of humor, or someone who is reliable? Which one of these characteristics is most important to you? Use reasons and specific examples to explain your choice. 

As we all acknowledge, people can hardly survive all by themselves in the world. Friends enrich one’s life by showing different kinds of characteristics. These characteristics make every friend become unique and can rarely replace by others.

But what is the most important characteristic in a friend? In my opinion, the answer will be reliance. The below are the reasons.

 Friends who are reliable means that you can share everything with them, from little details about the guy or girl that you have crush on, to the wildest dream about your future life. You can totally trust them without worrying that your secrets will become the gossiping material in everybody’s mouth.

 Moreover, reliable friends have loyal attitude toward friendship, they take friends as a part of their lives, always stay your side when you need them, and never be afraid of telling their thoughts and giving advices. And most important of all, they always cherish old friends, even if you’ve not seen them for a long period, once you meet again, you can still sense the true feeling of friendship.   

 Last but not the least, you can always count on reliable friends when you in trouble. Take myself as an example. Two years ago, one night my mother told me on the phone that my father just had a heart attack and was send to the nearest hospital right away. But I was in my college’s dorm, which is 200 miles away from my hometown, and it was a national holiday, so all the train and flight tickets were already been sold out. I worried about my father so much but there was nothing I can do. In this very moment, an old friend called, and told me that she can drive me back to my hometown in the middle of night. I was so touch and try to show how thankful I was. But she just smiled, and said: What are friends for? In that moment, I realized that having such a reliable friend is really lucky for me.
