MOFA “Make and Take Day” Lesson Plan     Yun-Chin Sun “Venus”

Lets Put Peaces Together

Session Activity:

Students will view a mural called Rebuilding the City after the Bomb, in the Kids’ Guernica- International Children’s Peace Mural Project exhibition currently at the FSU Museum of Fine Arts. Students will learn about the peace mural project. Questions like Why does the mural need many people’s efforts to be completed? And What is the meaning behind the peace symbols? will be answered. Then, each student will be given a paper puzzle piece with part of the peace dove outline on it. They will color and decorate their puzzle pieces. Finally, the pieces will be collected and put together to become a mini mural of a peace dove.

This lesson plan encourages students to understand that they all will only be doing part of an artwork. They are all pieces of the whole puzzle. It is just like the true meaning of peace, in that it needs everyone to put effort into it, and it will lose its meaning without any small piece.

Note
:

For display purposes, the students will not be able to take their puzzle pieces with them. Therefore, the instructor will prepare an A4-size-puzzle paper with a peace dove on it for each student to take home and finish coloring later.
